My background & music experience
I began taking lessons at the age of 7. I finished my Certificate of Merit Exams (http://www.mtac.org/) through level 10 at the age of 15 and immediately began teaching. When I was 13, I started playing the piano and singing for my church's worship team and continued until I moved out of the area when I was 21. I was also in my high school band as a percussionist for 2 years.
I continued teaching part-time through my undergraduate years. In May of 2012, I moved to San Diego and have been teaching full-time ever since. My students have ranged in age from 3 to 70's. I have also performed for several events at the Hilton in La Jolla and other private parties.

My education and other activities
I have a Bachelor's degree in Community Studies from UCSC and a Master's in Public Policy from UCLA. I am a tutor for most subjects, including SAT and ACT prep, and I am a certified yoga instructor. One of my favorite hobbies is volunteering/ doing part time work in wildlife rehabilitation.
In general, I feel that my life's goals can be summed up fairly simply: spread the passion of music to others, stand up for people and animals, and contribute to improving the health and happiness of our world and those who live in it! |
